QEEG-guided neurofeedback and neurostimulation · San Francisco · Serving the Bay Area since 2021

You're doing everything right — but something still feels off.

Sleep doesn't restore you. Stress builds faster than it clears.

Focus, mood, or energy shifts without warning — and nothing you've tried has changed the pattern.

You're not broken. Your brain is stuck in patterns it can't shift on its own.

Those patterns are measurable. And they can be trained.

Why the usual approaches miss.

Talk therapy works on what you think about. Meditation works on attention. Medication shifts chemistry. All useful.

But none of them reach the deeper pattern — the reason your nervous system keeps looping back to the same stuck place, no matter what you try.

That's what neurofeedback and neurostimulation train directly.

THE BASICS

How neurofeedback and neurostimulation work.

We map your brain first.

Your brain produces electrical patterns — rhythms that shape how you focus, sleep, recover from stress, and move through the day. When those patterns get stuck, everything downstream gets harder. We use two kinds of brain mapping to see what's happening. QEEG captures your brain's baseline — its resting architecture. ERP captures your brain in motion — how it actually responds when you're doing a task, making a decision, processing information in real time. Together, they show us not just where things are stuck, but how and when they break down. No guessing. No checklists. Just your data.

Then we train it to shift.

Neurofeedback shows your brain what it's doing in real time, so it can learn to do something different. Think of it like a mirror — not telling your brain what to do, but showing it what's happening so it can self-correct. Neurostimulation goes further, using gentle electrical or light-based cues to help reach patterns that feedback alone can't shift. Nothing forced. Training adapts as your nervous system changes.

And the gains build.

We reassess as your brain changes. This isn't a one-size-fits-all program — it's training that evolves with you. Progress compounds instead of fading because we're working with the system itself, not just its symptoms.

WHAT CHANGES

What progress actually feels like.

Clarity sharpens.

The fog lifts. Focus holds. Decisions come easier. You stop fighting your own brain to get through the day.

Stress stops accumulating.

Your nervous system learns to recover instead of just endure. Sleep deepens. Reactivity softens. The background noise quiets down.

Capacity compounds.

Daily life takes less effort to maintain. You have more left over — for the work, the people, and the parts of life that actually matter to you.

"Tasks that used to take effort suddenly felt effortless. Productivity stopped being a fight."

— Conner

"Within three weeks, I went from barely functioning to completing most of my work — and reducing medication."

— Jonathan

"Instead of a generic protocol, I got a plan tailored to my brain. The shift was immediate: calmer, clearer, and moving forward."

— Michael

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you decide.

What does a first session look like?

Just a conversation. Twenty minutes, no forms, no commitment. We talk about what's going on for you, what you've already tried, and whether this approach makes sense. If it does, the next step is brain mapping — a QEEG to see your brain's resting patterns, and an ERP to see how it performs under load. From there, every decision is based on what we see.

How long before I notice changes?

Most people notice shifts within the first 5–10 sessions. A typical course runs 20–40 sessions, depending on your brain's response and goals.

How is this different from talk therapy?

Talk therapy works on the content of your experience — what happened, how you feel about it. Neurofeedback works on the structure — the underlying patterns that shape how your brain processes everything. Many clients do both. They address different levels of the same system.

What does it cost?

A typical intensive runs around $4,500. That covers brain mapping, a customized protocol, and a full course of training. Most people who find their way here have already invested significant time and money in approaches that helped with symptoms but didn't reach the source. This is designed to be the last thing you need to try. We walk through cost, timing, and fit during your free consultation — no surprises.

Do I need a diagnosis to start?

No. We map your brain's patterns directly. A diagnosis can provide helpful context, but it's not required — and it's not what we base training on.

In-person or remote?

Both. Our practice is in San Francisco. Many neurofeedback and neurostimulation protocols can also be delivered remotely with home equipment. We'll figure out which approach makes sense for you during the consultation.

Not a different you. Just you, with the system working.

YOUR PRACTITIONER

James Croall

I spent thirty years in Silicon Valley building systems that had to work under pressure — computer security, complex infrastructure, the kind of engineering where you trace invisible problems back to their source. Now I do the same thing with nervous systems. As a neurotherapist specializing in QEEG-guided neurofeedback and neurostimulation, I help people find out what's actually going on — and train it to shift.
